Theft & Embezzlement
You Don’t Want A Theft Conviction On Your Record
Incarceration And Hefty Fines Are Possible
Theft crimes cover a range of charges and can include such offenses as:
- Petty larceny
- Grand larceny
- Auto theft
- Receiving stolen goods
- Burglary and robbery
- Fraud and embezzlement
Embezzlement and fraud are also considered white collar crimes. Depending on the details of the case, these may include federal charges. We have the federal defense experience to represent you in white collar cases. Your attorney must have this experience because federal court has its own deadlines and rules.
If you are charged with stealing less than $250 of goods/services in Minnesota, the charge will be a misdemeanor. For goods/services between $250 and $500, you will be charged with a gross misdemeanor. When the value is more than $500, you will face felony charges.
In addition to a possible jail or prison sentence, you may be ordered to pay fines and make restitution to the victims. A conviction can be expensive. It is better to fight the charges against you with the assistance of an experienced, aggressive lawyer. We are often able to get charges reduced or dismissed. We have won numerous acquittals in a broad range of serious cases, including theft cases.

I don’t know how to go about thanking you for helping me through the toughest time of my life. I never thought someone like me would have to face allegations like these. This was terrible. Me and my daughter would love for you to know how much we appreciate all that you do. I wish there were more people like you. Thank you and your staff for all you have done to help (I will never forget this). You’ve won our hearts.
Thank you so much for everything! I appreciate the time you took before I was an actual client as well as during the process. You’re obviously good at what you do and I’m thankful for the outcome! Thanks again!
Just a note John to thank you again for your work and your great presentation in court. I liked you the first time we met back in July and I think you’re great. I can feel in my heart that you like to help people as you helped me. Thanks again John and Bless you!
….I am very pleased with how things turned out. Having never had to navigate the legal system before I knew I could count on you to handle it properly. Your breadth of experience, superior communication and knowing that I was your #1 priority when we talked was very reassuring. I would be delighted to recommend your services to future clients.
Thank you so much for your time and effort on my behalf! Knowing you are in my corner gives me as much peace as I wish for you and yours!
I never had a chance to properly thank you for helping me out of that jam with my DWI. You were huge.
This letter is to thank you for representation that was above and beyond what we expected to receive. You are a clever, extremely professional, comforting individual and always kept us informed during the process. It was apparent to me that you care about the outcome as much as we did. Your style of representation was impeccable, classy, and cleverly executed throughout every facet of the case. We were proud to have you as our lawyer. We felt comforted by your portrayal of experience and knowledge. You were protective, well-prepared, thorough, convincing, and always accurate. I could see the others had respect for you and what you had to say. John did everything he promised and more. He comforted us when we were worried, and fought hard for us. He was our friend. I would recommend anyone to John. John is truly a terrific person and attorney. Thanks for excellent representation. Sincerely yours.
