Sometimes, people who are accused of sexual assault and similar types of offenses struggle to present their side of the story. In Minneapolis, and all over the rest of Minnesota, these allegations carry an incredibly strong stigma and can spell disaster for those facing charges, even if they are innocent. Regrettably, people are falsely accused of sexual assault for a variety of reasons, such as revenge or as part of an attempt to obtain money, to name a couple.

10 Minnesota college students were accused of sexually assaulting a woman on campus in 2016. However, none of them were charged during a trial that was held at the attorney’s office in November. That said, the students who were accused played for the football team and were later suspended by the school.

In addition to suspending the 10 football players, the college is also thinking about removing five others as a result of the allegations. Furthermore, the college’s Office of Equal Opportunity and Affirmative Action reportedly came to the conclusion that the alleged victim’s side of the story had more credibility in comparison to the suspects and asked for the school to take disciplinary action against the football players.

When someone is wrongfully accused of any offense, especially one that is sexual in nature, reviewing their circumstances immediately is imperative. For people who are struggling with these charges, reaching out to an attorney who has handled these cases before could be an excellent way to figure out which steps to take next.
